We recommend the 3 ton jack for vehicles like an F250 or larger.
Anything under that can be handled by our 2 ton jacks. Keep in mind that your Tacoma may weigh 4000 lbs but that is the weight of the entire vehicle. When using a floor jack you are never lifting the entire vehicle at once.
-
The Phoenix DS sports a lower 8.5 inch retracted height allowing it to be utilized in more varied situations. The telescopic design provides 17" of lift height. The lower starting height makes the DS easier to slide under a vehicle with a flat tire.
-
The larger wheel just makes the jack easier to move on uneven ground.
If your primary use will be in a garage or shop floor then the standard jack will meet your needs. -
All of our wheeled jacks ( 3 TON OFF ROAD SHOP JACK "ABRAMS" EXCLUDED) come with an 8" extension (adjusts from 5" to 8" Recommended for most off road vehicles.), mounting bracket and built in skid plate.
For long travel trucks and buggies on large tires, we recommend buying our optional 15" Extension. -
If your jack is not working correctly it is generally due to excess air inside the pump.
This either comes from the pump being low on fluid, air bubbles in the fluid or internal pressure has equalized with outside pressure.
Follow the steps below to get your jack back to operating normally. If your jack is leaking it is possible that after extended periods of inactivity, the seals have dried and shrunk. Follow the procedures below to condition the seals and it may stop the leak. If your jack continues to leak then the pump will most likely need to be replaced. -
If your jack will not lift correctly it has most likely lost prime. We use larger than normal breathers,so that they don’t get clogged with dirt. This also allows for the pressure inside the jack to equalize with outside pressure if not used frequently. To fix this it is rather simple. Turn the handle counterclockwise 1-2 turns and then pump the handle 15+ times. This pushes out the trapped air and should correct the usability issue. This procedure is recommended when the jack hasn’t been used in a couple of days or if it was subject to vibration after traveling in a vehicle. Air bubbles in the fluid will create the same “doesn’t want to lift weight” feel to the user.

On the1.5 ton and3 ton jackthere is a threaded OR rubber plug on the main cylinder / ram of the jack. You will have to remove the top plate on the jack to access this plug. Add jack oil (Any jack oil from a local parts store will work)until the cylinder is ¾ full or until the jack works correctly. Do not overfill the cylinder or the jack may not lower correctly.
Generally if the jack is operated and lowered it will push out excess fluid from the reservoir if overfilled. On the 2 ton jackthere are three caps on the top of the pump. Two are centered and one is offset, the offset plug is the fill plug. DO NOT open the other two plugs. Fill the reservoir until the fluid touches the threads on the pump case. Once full, on all jacks, replace the cap and run through the priming procedure to remove excess air.

We offer the extension and base mountEXTBM as replacement parts for our jacks.
It is true that some jacks can be modified to accept our base and extension but we hold no responsibility for confirming if it will fit. Other jack manufacturers source from multiple factories and it is ossible for a certain size / style of jack from brand X to come from 2-3 different factories and each factory may use different size / dimensions when building them. Because of this we say you are purchasing at your own risk. -
No the wheels do not lock. The jack needs to be able to roll under the vehicle while lifting. The lift arm moves in an arc meaning it goes up AND moves back. This means that the jack needs to be able to roll under the load while the arm is moving up. The vehicle should be in park and the wheels should be chocked.
-
On occasions the jacks will lose prime. This may happen from sitting for long periods of time without use, high heat or cold conditions, extreme vibration or from being stored vertically. This can be easily fixed.
Turn the handle counterclockwise as you would if you were lowering the jack. Then pump the handle 10-12 times with full strokes.
This will prime the system and push out any trapped air. Tighten the handle by turning it clockwise and it should work just fine. -
We have a detailed image added with the general dimensions of the mount, the distance between the pre-drilled holes and the weight of each mount:
